Lead Java Engineer

Currently we are looking for a Lead Java Engineer for our Krakow office to make the team even stronger.

EPAM is seeking IT professionals to set up a cross-functional and self-organized development team for a world-leading investment bank. IT specialists will tackle development of a highly scalable risk analysis engine built on in-memory cache database. The team is responsible for back-end and front-end development using extreme programing practices (Scrum, CI, Code Review, TDD and BDD).

The project aims to develop new functionality for the existing and successful product. The project team is located in three locations: New York, London and Krakow. The team consists of four development teams, business analysts and managers. We value innovations, technologies and best software development practices.

The project has ambitious plans: increase volumes by onboarding new sources, develop new functionality, employ data science and hire two more teams.

  • AngularJS, LESS, D3.js, HTML5/CSS3.


  • Play a role of a Key developer/TL, design and contribute towards the framework and solution;
  • Work with BAs and product owners to define the scope of work;
  • Identify and effectively communicate the issues/risks to ensure they are addressed;
  • Independently develop the codes against the milestone and manage the source code and versioning with minimum supervision;
  • Work with other development teams to deliver the complete solution.


  • Experience in a similar position;
  • Experience in Scrum;
  • Highly experienced in Java programming;
  • Highly experienced in OOP and Design Patterns;
  • Strong passion for learning and following industry best practices;
  • Good knowledge of Spring;
  • Continuous integration experience (Jenkins);
  • Knowledge of TDD/BDD frameworks – JUnit/Cucumber;
  • Good English communication skills and attitude to team work;
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Nice to have

  • Scala;
  • Experience with building highly-loaded and highly-available systems;
  • Experience working with distributed Agile teams;
  • Finance experience.
